This blog was written by one of our clients after her first HydraFacial. Find out exactly what to expect on your first try.
I first discovered Pure Perfection a few months ago when I decided it was time to get serious about my skin.
I’ve experienced a few treatments already – seriously if you have rosacea or broken capillaries, get your self booked in for thread vein removal, it’s amazing – but I was so impressed by the HydraFacial that I felt compelled to share my experience so that you too can see how simple it is to have glowing, healthy skin.
Why choose a HydraFacial?
I’ve had my fair share of facials and whilst they have all been a lovely, pampering experience, they’ve never really made a dramatic difference to my skin. At the end of the day, most standard facials felt like someone simply cleaning your face.
Sara suggested that I try a HydraFacial so I booked myself in not really knowing what to expect. A hydrating facial? A facial using water? I honestly had very little idea, but I was intrigued to give it a go.
Who is a HydraFacial for and why is it so popular?
Although it has a strong celebrity fan base, including Abbey Clancy, Paris Hilton and Karen Brady, this isn’t just for the rich and famous! Across the world, a HydraFacial is performed every 15 seconds – that’s over 2 million a year! That makes it more popular than Botox!
Other than the fact that this is a true medical grade facial with immediate results, it can treat almost all ages, complexions and concerns. It’s infinity customisable!
If you are prone to acne, concerned about ageing or sun spots, have rosacea or are simply wanting to revive a dull complexion, then a HydraFacial could be the perfect remedy.
You can tailor a Hydrafacial depending on your specific skin concerns. On top of the core steps you can choose a boost which uses a HydraFacial super serum. You can choose from –
- Dermabuilder Boost – minimises the signs of aging and recharges the skin.
- Glysal Boost – minimises congestion in pores and improves superficial acne scars.
- Brightalive Boost – minimises the appearance of dark spots and sun spots.
- Rozatrol Boost – minimises the appearance of skin redness and blood vessels
What happens during the treatment?
This facial is very different! It’s performed using a medical grade HydraFacial machine that uses a handheld device to administer the core steps. It looks and feels reassuringly clinical.
Step 1 – Detox.
The device was applied in sweeping movements creating lymphatic drainage. This improves your circulation and helps get rid of toxins so that the next steps are at their most effective. It feels relaxing and I’m sure I can feel my skin actually waking up.
Step 2 – Cleanse.
This is the cleanest my skin has ever felt. The way the device gently exfoliates, and cleanses feels like it’s really getting deep into my skin. There’s no scrubbing or scratching and it’s a very comfortable experience. It uses unique ‘vortex technology’ which means that it both applies the products and gently sucks away dead skin and excess oils. You can even see what it takes out at the end – it’s well worth a look!
Step 3 – Peel.
The peel was applied to my face with a brush and whilst it doesn’t smell particularly nice, it also doesn’t feel chemically on your skin like some peels can. Yes, it tingles a little but that’s just to let you know that it’s doing its job! It’s a rather satisfying feeling.
Step 4 – Extract & Hydrate.
I’d had ‘extraction’ before which involved lots of squeezing, meaning next day redness and eruptions of grand proportions – but this was very different. The machine uses suction to remove all the debris from your pores and what a fantastic feeling that is. It’s light and painless, and at the same time applies intense moisturises that quenches my skin at the same time.
Step 5 – The Boost.
I opted for the Rozatrol Boost. After being a recent convert to the ZO skin health products I was excited to boost my skin care with this fantastic serum.
Step 6 – Fuse & Protect.
The way the antioxidants and peptides are applied really felt like my skin was being saturated with goodness. I felt that my skin was glowing and that the products were really absorbing in and not just sat on top of my skin.
Step 7 – Rejuvenation.
The very relaxing bit! A band of lights is placed near your face which emits red and infrared LED light. I almost drifted off as it feels as if you are lying on a beach in the summer sun. As well as being relaxing, this final stage reduces redness and stimulates collagen, which has to be a good thing for glowing skin!
FACT: After the age of 20, a person produces 1% less collagen in their skin each year!
At the end of the treatment, you get to see what actually came out of your skin. Brace yourself – whilst slightly gross, it’s so interesting to see. There’s even been people posting pictures of the tube of ‘gunk’ on social media, full of oils, grime, skin and even blackheads! You will be shocked at what your skin holds onto unnecessarily.
What results can you expect?
Put simply – immediate, glowing, healthy looking skin. The best skin of your life and I’m not being dramatic!
‘Your skin looks amazing’, ‘you look really healthy’, ‘have you been away, you look great’ – these were genuine comments the following day from friends and family. What a confidence booster!
The results are long term too, and I am still seeing healthier skin after 2 weeks.
I can’t recommend this treatment highly enough – seriously. I’m looking forward to my next one and seeing my complexion dramatically improve with each.
