ACP, or advanced cosmetic procedures, are one of our most rewarding treatments to deliver. With instant results and minimal downtime, the removal of skin tags, milia, xanthelasma, seborrhoeic keratosis and thread veins using advanced electrolysis treatments is the most effective.
Using an electrical current delivered to a small probe needle from an electrolysis machine, lesions can be quickly removed by cauterisation. While this sounds painful, most patients experience a short, stinging sensation at worst.
Skin Tags
Skin tags are small growths of skin that usually form where our skin rubs together, such as the inner thighs and underarms. Usually, one electrolysis treatment is sufficient to remove a skin tag and results are generally immediate – the tag will fall off instantly. Some redness and swelling can occur for up to an hour post-treatment, and the site of the lesion may scab for a day or two. Otherwise, there is very little pain and no downtime with these immediately effective results.
Xanthelasma (Fatty Deposits Around the Eyes)
Fatty deposits that form around the eye, xanthelasma can be linked to high cholesterol so it’s important to get these symptoms checked by a GP before seeking treatment. However, the removal of these deposits is as simple as 1-4 electrotherapy sessions, depending on the severity of the condition. Immediately after the treatment, xanthelasma will appear slightly lighter with some mild swelling, that soon scabs and disappears between 1-2 weeks after the treatment to reveal more healthy-looking skin.
Telangiectasia (Thread Veins)
Broken veins that come to the surface of the skin can look unsightly, and cause a fall in our confidence – particularly if the vein shows on the face. The number of treatments is different for each patient and is discussed upon consultation. Treatments will provide visible results, making the lesion vanish. The area might feel a little dry after the treatment, but this will be mild and settle over a couple of days.
Campbell de Morgan (Blood Spots)
Blood spots form under the skin after a blood vessel has burst. With just one treatment, the appearance of blood spots completely disappear after a few days, they will initially appear as a dark scab before healing completely over a couple of days.
Fibroepithelial Polyp (Benign Lesions)
Similar to skin tags, these benign lesions are growths on the skin that have no sinister cause or purpose. Usually these can be cauterised using electrolysis with one treatment, the area then scabbing and falling off within two weeks. A full-cauterisation also means minimal pain and no bleeding, for effective and reliable lesion removal.
Seborrhoeic Keratosis
Usually possessing a scaly or waxy texture, seborrhoeic keratosis can often be misdiagnosed. Before seeking electrolysis treatment, it’s important you get your lesions checked and tested by a GP. Unlike most of the other conditions we can treat with electrolysis, seborrhoeic keratosis is likely to bleed before scabbing over. While only one treatment can remove these lesions, it’s important to be patient.
This treatment can cause the healing process to restart many times, the site scabbing and flaking many times before full healing is achieved. If you’re careful not to catch the scab on clothing or other materials, full healing should be at around 6 weeks after your treatment.
Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra
This benign form of seborrhoeic keratosis can be treated using electrolysis. Individual lesions can be removed with one treatment, but unfortunately there is no guarantee that new lesions won’t form in the future. With only a little mild swelling and redness post-treatment, electrolysis can instantly and effectively remove these symptoms, with downtime as little as two hours.
Milia (milk spots)
Milia are often referred to as milk spots – small white bumps that often appear around the eye area and on the face. Depending on the size of the spots, only one or two treatments with electrolysis will be necessary. Initially, you might not notice immediate results except a slight lightening of the spots. However, the milia will quickly harden and vanish, leaving healthy and smooth skin in just a few days.
